I am trying to find a cast-iron smoker pot – i checked walmart’s web site but did not find anything? any suggestions?

Glad you found it!

I did find it helpful to take the thermostat off and fish it through the hole in the bottom so that you can regulate the temp without removing everything.

Believe it or not, the hot plate you want is at Walgreens for $9.99.

Try to get the old style, which is round.

Re: 1 hotplate ( under $20) – you need to use the old “coil” style, not the solid types

I would expect that would work very well. I’d want to make sure the smoke cooled before hitting the flexible hose — make sure you have about a foot of space between the burner and the top of the box before the hose should fix it fine.

I was wondering, could you adapt this to make it a cold smoker by adding an outside unit to house the heat and wood chips then connect it through the bottom drainage holes with a flexible hose (such as used for dryers but smaller)? Thanks in advance
